ten-HUT!

Attention all you Slacking Sallys! It's time to get busy...busy exercising! LOL

Today is the first day of my 10-week exercise accountability
challenge! This challenge is meant to encourage those who made exercise-related resolutions to be accountable.

And, it is also for those of us Weak Wendys who completely forgo exercise in the winter because it's too cold, too dark, too EVERYTHING and become big bowls of blubbery belly over the winter months! *wink*

In the interest of everyone feeling welcome and involved, there are no strict guidelines or hoops to jump through. The idea is simply to set a goal to accomplish between today and the first day of Spring in ten weeks. If possible, could you put it in terms of "number of minutes spent exercising"? And, here's why:

The only way I could figure out to compare my "apple" goal to someone else's "orange" goal (if ya' know what I mean) was to keep a running tab of how many minutes we all spent exercising each week!

So, after the first check-in next Friday, I'll create a new ticker to keep in the sidebar to show how much time we're spending on our goals.
I can either ask you all for a total number of minutes you PLAN on exercising and then ticker the number we accomplish OR we can just go from zero and measure all the minutes we finish. It's up to you!

We'll meet back here each Friday for 10 Fridays to see how we're doing and to cheer each other on!

While I'm sure I don't have to say this, let us please keep in mind that all of us are at different levels of fitness and capability. ANY addition of time put towards exercising is an improvement. That goes towards are behavior toward each other - but, it also applies to our "self-voice". Don't feel self-conscious if your goal may not seem as "ambitious" as someone else's. Remember - ANY additional time is an improvement.

So, comment to this post with your goal for the next 10 weeks. In addition, comment on your preference on the ticker. Also, feel free to "steal" the button and post it at your bloggy home and encourage others to participate!

Blessings on everyone's goals!!

OK, for me:
Walking for a minimum of at least 30 minutes 3 days a week. 90 minutes per week times 10 weeks = 900 total minutes of exercise.

As a side note: My bigger goal is that I need to be 15 pounds lighter in 8 weeks so I may increase my commitment if I'm not losing about 2lbs a week!

Biking or walking for a minimum of at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week
(Id like to exercise everyday but I dont know if I can hold myself to that)
so that equals = 150 minutes a week over 10 weeks = 1500

Slacking Sally (I mean Shelby) here. Ok: my goal is to exercise four days a week X 20 minutes per time= 80 minutes per week x 10 weeks =800 total minutes.

I read that to lose weight (I need to lose about 22 lbs) you are to divide your weight by two, and drink that many ounces of water per day. You can drink other beverages, but only water counts. Fortunatly, the more you drink, the more you want. I am going to strive to drink (2) 34 oz bottles of water per day. I think water helps fill you (less room for food), and aids in digestion.

One more goal for me; I am logging my calories on www.fitday.com; a free site that lets you log your calories (it figures them for you), lets you log your exercise, and journal your progess. It is all private (not shared with anyone); but I need accountability, so I will be reporting on this blog weekly.

My scripture verse is: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". I will be praying daily for each of you, that He will do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or think! Hallelujah!

I will be walking for 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week. So, that equals 180 minutes per week over 10 weeks = 1800 total minutes of exercise. Thanks for doing this sweet one.

This sounds excellent!

You can put me down for 30 minutes of cardio/weights 4 times a week. 120 x 10 = 1200 minutes total.

OK, I'm trying to figure this out. I'm taking my iPod to school anyway since I'm listening to John McArthur on my morning drive, so I can take it to the basement and walk around one of the playgrounds. I just need to coordinate my free periods to when there are no PE classes down there. So I'm hoping 30 min. a day but not sure how many days...depends upon the scheduling thing plus how far ahead I am on lessons plans, newsletter, etc. Also I have a book that has a 10 min. per day plan but for early morning. I already wake up at 5 and don't really care to go earlier. I could do that in the afternoons, better than nothing. So I have a rough plan so I'm in. Just have to remember my walking shoes in the morning!

Had a "duh" moment this morning. I'm not sure what part of "exercising goal" I didn't get when I shared all of my weight loss/fitness goals.
Anyway...glad to be participating and joining forces with you awesome folks!

Beth - can you give me an estimate of the number of minutes you're hoping to exercise each week?
