Pensieve Poetic License

Robin selected this month's style and theme: the cinquain and celebration. As there are several forms, traditional and modern, for the cinquain, I just used the one I found that indicated syllables-per-line with no other restrictions or requirements on rhyme scheme or particular parts of speech.

Think of it as a 2-4-6-8-2 syllable version of a haiku! LOL

So, here are some I've been playing around with the past few weeks...

Advent
What is to come
Joyous celebration
Of Christ’s birth and His destiny
Peace reign.

Quiet
The tree, the snow
All little ones in bed
‘Til morning’s loud package ripping
Smiling

Oh eight
Year of promise
Like so many before
New attempts to change, wage battles
Improve

Birthdays
So long between
Each for the little ones
But time flies the more kids you have
Already?

Swing by Robin's place today for some other examples. Or better yet - join in!

4!!!! Wow - you did good.

I really like the one that starts out with Quiet - ends in loud ripping.

Dreaming What ifs...

Beth, gosh...you've really got a knack for this! I loved your characterization--"Think of it as a 2-4-6-8-2 syllable version of a haiku!" Maybe if I had said that, it would've seemed a little bit less intimidating for some.

Sorry it took me so long to visit :/...this time of year wreaks havoc on blogging.

All your entries are diverse but in keeping with the spirit and "form" of cinquain. My favorite? Really hard to say. I love "Advent", but just the title line alone in the third one was a delight (took me a second to figure it out, lol). The last one? So.stinkin'.TRUE.!

Thanks for playing and passing along the word :).
