I was having trouble having my mashed potatoes still be warm when they hit the table. I tried making them absolutely last but still I would have DaHubby getting back up from the table to "nuke" his plate before he could eat. So, out of the mouths of "babes" - or at least just MY babe -DaHubby says, "why don't you heat the milk up first?" Well, DUH!
So, instead of the cold milk chilling my potatoes, I "nuke" the milk for about 30-60 seconds before mixing it in and "ta-da"- warm potatoes!

That IS a great idea. I would have never thought of it, but it makes so much sense. Thanks. I love me some mashed taters!
What a great idea, thanks sweetie.
yup, and it keeps the potatoes from getting "gooey" which is probably a problem only I have had. I now also melt the butter in the milk.
I totally never would have thought of that but it makes perfect sense! Now I'll just need to remember it next time I make mashed potatoes.
I have never even thought to do that!
Thanks for the tip.
Linda
Great idea. I had never thought of this, and then saw my sister-in-law do it a couple weeks ago. It really helps!
oh, what a GREAT idea! Thank you for sharing!
Never thought of this myself....and I love HOT mashed potatoes! I use canned milk sometimes, depending if I have it on hand.
Great tip! If only my mush brains will remember that....
That really is a clever idea!
Yup, that keeps them warm. Also if you set the whole pot in the oven on warm works great too.
