Email issues running amuck...

Do ya' ever just love the way a word sounds? LOL I love "amuck"! LOL

Anyway, if it were up to DaHubby, he would have scaled the walls of our ISP and domain providers by now in Viking fashion and took whatever the Swedish equivalent to a Scottish claymore is to the neck of the next person who answered customer service. Ouch!

We found out that GoDaddy.com - from whom we purchased the lovely northernbranches.com domain we so lovingly took MONTHS to pick out - has decided (in the interest of "saving" its customers from SP*M and vir*ses) that it will no longer allow ANY emails through (including my notifications that someone has commented) from Blogger and/or with Blogger hyperlinks and/or ANY hyperlinks for that matter. *sigh*

The dippy teenager professional customer service representative DaHubby yelled and argued conversed with informed him tough cookies that he may want to contact Blogger and ask them to discontinuing using hyperlinks in its emails.

Yea, right! We'll add that to our "might as well be banging our head on a brick wall" list. *sigh*

So, not sure how this will all pan out. My personal/"private" email address seems to have been freed up. But, the address I use only for this blog still seems to still be locked up tight.

I'll keep ya updated of any changes. And, just by the way, we will not be recommending GoDaddy or be appearing in any of their TV or print advertisements anytime soon! *wink*

WFMW: Keeping Distant Relatives Near

I've mentioned before how DaHubby's family is mostly local while my family ranges from 2-3 hours away. And, while I have two half-sisters who are 18, in my mom's eye, I'm still an only child and the Vikings are her only grandbabies! Having the Vikings realize that they have a whole 'nother side of the family is important to her and to me as well.

Well, I mentioned here how we have turned one whole side of our fridge into a 40-picture photo gallery of faces we want the VIkings to be familar with.

Another idea struck me over the last few months as my mom has started a habit of sending postcards to the Vikings whether she's on vacation or just of local landmarks near her. Add those to additional cards my mom sends plus pictures I think the Vikings will like and I ended up with this over Pojke's changing table...

And, this on the wall next to Flicka's bed....

I've been using the new Post-It "sticky" photo paper for the pictures and just masking tape (for now - NOT DaHubby's first choice! LOL) for the cards and postcards. It's been working fine but the first picture came loose in Flicka's room before bed tonight less than 2 weeks after I put it up.

Other than that small wrinkle, the Vikings have been thrilled! Pojke is (mostly) still during diaper changes and the pics encourage him to "talk" about what he sees. Flicka enjoys listing all the things she has hanging onher wall each night before bed.

I'm betting on a cold but not taking any chances due to Pojke's procedure last month.

We're off to the ped's office this morning. *sigh*

On day two from the land of "booger rags" and antihistamines, wish us luck! *wink*

Update: we're home...both of us have scripts for antibiotics.

Diagnosis: strep throat

Instructions from my doc?

Don't leave the house for 24 hours since we're contagious.

*sigh*

Pray that Flicka doesn't come home feeling icky from Grandma's today.

Pass The Torch Tuesday

Ever since I saw Kelly lovingly showing off her "babies" and their examples of passing the torch, I've been anxious to find examples of my Vikings starting to show some sort of indication that they are listening and watching DaHubby and I too! LOL

But, I had been SO looking, I often missed the unintended, caught-in-the-moment times...like this one:

That my 18 month old! Who R-U-N-S from wherever he is in the house to the dishwasher when he hears it open to hand me each bowl and plate!

Thanks Kelly for making me pay attention but also teaching me not to pay SO much attention and just appreciate my babies!

Apparently Beth at I Should Be Folding Laundry was the first one that stumbled onto a email problem with my ISP. If you have been trying to reach me through my "personal" account or my blog email account and are getting error messages back, DaHubby and I are working on it...

If you need to reach me in the next few days, try my old email address that was scheduled to be shut off shortly (which obviously won't be happening until we get this sorted out): bookworm at qtm dot net. Thanks!

Update: it appears part of the problem has been identified. (Can I say 'THANK YOU, DaHubby'!?) My "signature line" for my outgoing emails contains hyperlinks to this blog and our family's domain which apparently are tripping some folks' S**M and vir*s software. The signature's no longer a default and we'll see if that cures the problem.
